mural outside upfest

the other day  i painted outside the upfest gallery. I decided to keep it abstract with the theme being about ballet dancers halfway through a performance. using striking colours to to show the energy's behind the passion and movement. This was an extension of a piece of work i featured on my blog a few weeks ago.

there's a long summer planned for painting, so keep your eyes on this blog for up dates on my latest work and musings.

Peace and love

Monday, sweet Mondays

I have been looking at vintage heart tattoo designs alot at the moment, not so much because i want one but because of the composition. For me the potential learning exercises in these tattoos are limitless because they help me work out how to wrap images around each other in a cohesive way that makes sense. i then use these ideas on my collages as it also involes picking out certian parts of the design and elongtating diffrent parts to give greater effects to a normally flat image.

new absracts

i have recently been getting into painting abstracts on canvas. my work seems to be getting fluid, pulling shapes out of marks made with diffrent caps, also making quicker judgements and walking away at the right time in the process is becoming ever more importent to me as an artist. This seems to relive stress levels and have a much ore relaxed feel to the work adding to the fun of creating these works. i dont feel that i will be carrying on with solely abstract work but elements of the techniques and colour fades will leak into my style. here is one of the examples....
abstract one
spray paint , ink on canvas
