The Amercian art palette

From the day I started viewing art and artist's, i have always admired American artists such as Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, and Robert Rauschenberg. The main draw to me has always been the colour palette that they use in the paintings. The use of shocking reds, blues and faded colours resonates with the way my dyslexic brain peices together the visual image almost sewing together perfect flat colour with worn out paint effects.

This new piece of work made of an old bed frame reflects the colour palette that they used in their work. I have made the work into a palette itself to be a direct representation of there working practices in the studio. I decided to use the big classical frame to contrast the modern look of the piece to give the simple wood palette more gravitas and to contrast the rough look of the work.
